Hepatitis C: Enhancing Prevention, Testing and Care
Course Access: Lifetime
Hepatitis C is a blood bourne virus that affects the liver and is responsible for a huge global public health concern. Chronic infection can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Advances in treatment since 2011 led the World Health Organisation to set a target of eliminating Hepatitis C as a global health threat by 2030. Because infection with Hepatitis C often has no symptoms, a large number of people are unaware that they are infected. Allied to this, Hepatitis C is associated with injecting drug users and the stigma of this prevents people from engaging with testing and treatment.
