An Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Informed Practice

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact with each other. CBT teaches individuals evidence based coping strategies to support them in dealing with a variety of difficulties.

CBT has a vast amount of support behind it and with this found itself in the mainstream of mental health support. This left the demand for CBT high and meant the need to find new ways to deliver the approach became crucial.

This one day introduction course aims to introduce you to the basic foundations of CBT and discuss how and why CBT principles have been developed into more accessible forms of lower intensity and self-help techniques.

The course will teach participants not only the foundations of CBT, but also CBT-informed techniques that participants can implement within their daily lives.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Understand the basic foundations of CBT
  • Understand how and why CBT has been developed into more accessible self-help approaches
  • Have been introduced to specific CBT informed techniques that can be applied in daily life
  • Have heard real life examples of CBT informed practice in action
  • Have had the opportunity to apply information and techniques learnt to own experiences.
