Connect 5 – Session 3

Connect 5 is a practical and interactive mental wellbeing training programme.

The programme is designed to support non-specialist staff/volunteers to better understand and support mental wellbeing. The programme however is beneficial, and open, to anyone who is looking to increase their skills and confidence around mental wellbeing conversations.

 

What does Connect 5 aim to change? Connect 5 aims to improve the wellbeing of the population by changing the way people have conversations about mental wellbeing.

What does Connect 5 teach? Connect 5 content provides an evidenced based prevention toolkit that promotes psychological knowledge, understanding and awareness and the development of skills, which empower people to take proactive steps to build resilience and look after themselves and to have compassionate conversations with others.

Connect 5 is a tiered training programme. All attendees must attend day 1 in the first instance. Days 2 and 3 are optional depending on what you want to get out of the course.

Session 1: The intended outcome of session 1 is to change the way you have mental wellbeing conversations so that you are confident and skilled to have brief conversations in which you help a person think about ways they can take action to improve their mental wellbeing.

Session 2: The intended outcome of session 2 is to change the way you have mental wellbeing conversations so that you have conversations in which you and the person you are talking with develop a shared understanding of their mental wellbeing needs.

Session 3: The intended outcome of session 3 is to change the way you have mental wellbeing conversations so that you have conversations that empower a person to make changes that address their mental wellbeing needs.
