The True Face of Trauma: Understanding and supporting adversity and trauma

Most people will experience adversity at some stage throughout their life.  When adverse events overwhelm our ability to cope, we describe this experience as trauma. Both trauma and adversity are very common, and can significantly impact an individual’s mental and physical health, relationships and identity.

Join us on this one-day course and explore the true face of trauma. You will also have the opportunity to reflect on your own experiences of trauma and learn ways to support yourself and others.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Have gained a better understanding of adversity and trauma
  • Have gained a better understanding of the wide range of impacts trauma can have
  • Have explored the importance of trauma-informed care
  • Have heard lived experiences of the impact of trauma
  • Have had the opportunity to reflect upon your own experiences of trauma
  • Have gained an understanding of the importance of post-trauma growth
  • Have explored coping skills to help yourself and others when impacted by trauma.
