Understanding & Responding to Crises

A crisis presentation is when an individual feels at breaking point with their mental health and needs urgent support to navigate through this.

This course aims to increase your understanding of what crisis presentations can look like in different individuals, as well as providing you with a range of resources and psychological safety when supporting someone in crisis. We look at common misconceptions of crisis presentations as well as safety planning and positive risk taking.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Have a better understanding of the term crisis.
  • Feel more confident in recognising and understanding the differences between long-term difficulties and crisis presentations.
  • Have access to a variety of resources to support someone in crisis.
  • Have a better understanding of psychological safety when supporting someone in crisis.
