Pain will affect us all from time to time but will usually ease over a short period or be easily managed. For around one third of the UK population pain becomes persistent or chronic. We know that living with chronic pain can be a very distressing experience and can significantly impact on your quality of life and physical, psychological, and social functioning.
There is no known cure for persistent pain (long term pain) and whilst medications or other treatments can offer some help, they are often not as effective as we would like. Therefore, exploring other ways to manage your life living with chronic pain can be hugely beneficial.
This course will explore some of the science behind why pain persists and the significant impact it can have on people’s quality of life. It aims to introduce / outline evidence based self-management strategies to help think about managing pain whilst living a fulfilling life.
